YOU (aka Your Mission Should You Accept It)

Psst…hey you
Yes you
Here’s what I want you to do today.
I want you to be your most

Authentic
Crazy
Weird
Imaginative
Funny
Irreplaceable
Badass self. Not the self that you think the world accepts. Not the self that only shows what you consider to be the best of you. Not the self that is too mired in past pain, guilt, or fear for you to think or feel clearly. Not the manifestation of you that is fueled by your desire for perfection, your doubts and insecurities, or your belief that you’re not good enough or simply enough just the way you are. Not the facade that you present in order to protect yourself when you are feeling hurt or vulnerable.

No. I’m talking about YOU. Your parts that shine and your flaws. The core of who you really are. The unique essence of your heart and soul. The purest illustration of what makes you YOU.

I want you to own it, own the beautiful being that you are and show that creature to the world without restraint, masks, or limitations. I want you to express yourself and reveal your “youness” without apology.

I want you to shine your light in this world in the way that only you can because there is a reason you are here, there is a need for your talents and attributes, and only you can bring your one of a kind brand of awesomeness to the world.

We will all be better off for it-you included.
And as for those who don’t get you, those who try to limit you or make you feel bad about who you are, those who would prefer that you put the mask back on and/or play it small to make them feel more comfortable and less guilty about not having the courage to be vulnerable by showing who they really are?
Screw ’em.
Love them, feel compassion for them, but don’t you dare let them influence how you feel about who you are. Don’t let their opinions cause you to hide your magnificence and your true self from the world.

Besides, while they might not admit it, they will watch you with envy and won’t be able to look away. Your courage might be the very thing that prompts them to shed the “societally acceptable” disguise they hide behind and instead reveal who they are and act from a place of authenticity and that, my friend, could create a domino effect.

Just imagine what a gloriously amazing world this would be if we were all able to be comfortable in our own skin and show others who we truly are and allow others to operate from that space as well.

If you could do that one little thing today, you would be my hero. Just saying.

Now back to your regularly scheduled program. 😊
